Irinny, Odessa, I didn't crop the photo to maintain visual balance in the frame and not disrupt the proportions with the shadow of the second arch. Thank you!
A fad of light and shadow.)) I'd crop it to a square, cutting off the left part. However, in that case, the photo wouldn't raise any questions... And that's not very good either.
I didn't have any desire to cut anything off here, the frame is so interesting and balanced, and it's called B&W, in my opinion everything is great here
Marina Glebova, Marina, would it also be interesting if the work was called B&W and in color, by your logic? )
Yakov Trembovolsky, ))) But I'm actually talking about the match, the balance between black and white.
Honestly, I would cut it off here, but only a little bit. At this scale, 5mm on the left, I feel more comfortable that way, but it's not essential; it's a photo, not a design.
The fact that the name and form actually match doesn't add anything other than a statement of fact. If they didn't, it would be even more amusing. You could ask a question. ))) I'm not suggesting cutting it off, but I follow a different logic.
The fact that the title and form actually coincide doesn't add anything other than a statement of fact.
Yakov Trembovolsky, I remembered our conversation yesterday and decided to formulate my thought more clearly. The thing is, the theme stated is "B&W." But the theme could have been "Arches," for example, and then it would have been entirely possible to crop it to a square. So the distribution of black and white spots, their compositional balance, is precisely in line with the stated theme, that's what I meant.
A good feature on the site: a notification about a new message, even if the message and discussion aren't under your work...)) Marina, I understood you correctly then, but I escalated the conversation, since we don't evaluate work based on how closely it matches the title... Titles can be evaluated that way, but not photographs...))
I agree with you, however, that Olga didn't choose B&W by accident: the distribution of the B and W planes was important to her. That's why she didn't crop the dark area.
Great chiaroscuro: super. Can I ask you a question? Why didn't you cut out the dark left part at all? Isn't there much of it?
