Деревья в Нью-Йорке есть, правда в местах с высотной застройкой их не много, но зато много парков. Самый известный и крупный из них Центральный парк (http://www.centralpark.com/).

Несмотря на столь плотную застройку в городе дела с экологией обстоят весьма не плохо за счет близости Атлантического океана. Единственно на Манхэттене температура обычно выше, чем в других районах за счет нагрева фасадов высотных зданий. Есть и районы между центральной и нижней частью Манхэттена, например Вест вилладж (West village), где практически нет высотной застройки и много деревьев.

Сам город состоит из пяти районов (borough): Манхэттен - то что в нашем понимание и есть Нью-Йорк, по сути это лицо города; а также Бруклин, Бронкс, Куинс и Стейтен айленд. Стейтен айленд (Staten Island) совершенно не похож на Манхэттен, так как там отсутствует высотная застройка и много свободного пространства.

Как в этом городе вообще деревья растут???

Mikhail Glagolev, I'm the same way. Sometimes I get tired of these glitches and disappear for long periods of time. And the panoramas are a disaster; they're so restrictive that the very concept of a panorama loses its meaning. FS is committing suicide, which is a shame.

Sergeeva N, I completely agree, and I'm not planning on leaving there. I post works, but I mostly browse through my favorite authors, since I quickly get tired of all these new features. FS is slowly dying, unfortunately. Maybe something will change, but I find it hard to believe. Plus, they removed the newly uploaded works line, but there are a ton of money feeds from which works generally end up in the ratings, and the works, to put it mildly, aren't always of the best quality, which defeats the purpose of these ratings. Panoramas are a complete disaster, since their auto-resize for the average monitor significantly reduces the quality. So there is no particular point in posting them there...
